An important update regarding your primary care at KB Health

Dear KB Health Patients,

Upcoming changes for KB Health are underway. As part of a broader transition of resources within the Kootenay Boundary Primary Care Network, Prima Health Cooperative has decided to conclude operations of the KB Health Clinic on February 28, 2026.

Your primary care provider, Tamara Danchella (NP), will continue to provide you with comprehensive care at KB Health until February 28th, 2026. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for you and are actively working on several options for your future care. Our entire team understands the importance of continuous, stable primary care. Our priority is to support you through this change.

Your Options for Future Care
We are currently exploring the following options to transition your care:

  • Care with Tamara at a New Location: Tamara is actively exploring opportunities to continue her practice in a new clinic location. If this becomes an option, your care will be directly transferred to her new practice and we will provide you with information for how to reach her.
  • Transfer to Another Clinic: We are also working with the Kootenay Boundary Health Connect Registry (HCR) to identify potential openings at other clinics that may be able to accept new patients.
  • If a Direct Transfer is Not Possible – If we cannot facilitate a direct transfer to a new provider by February 28, 2026, we will assist you in registering with the HCR, if you want us to. The HCR is a centralized waitlist for residents who need a Nurse Practitioner or Family Doctor. This service helps match patients with providers in their area as openings become available.

What You Can Do

  • Continue Your Care: Please continue to book appointments with Tamara as needed for your medical care. She will remain available to you at KB Health until February 28, 2026.
  • Await Updates: We will contact you again with more specific information about your care transition as required.
  • Your Own Efforts: You always have the option to seek a new primary care. Learn about your options at kbhrc.ca.

Continuity of Care and Medical Records
Your medical records will remain confidential and secure. If you transfer to another clinic or provider, KB Health will facilitate the transfer of your records upon request from your new provider.

Questions or Support
We understand that this change may be difficult and that you may have questions. Our team is available to help you understand your options and next steps. Please contact us at 778-364-1315 or email kbhealthclinic@protonmail.com if you need assistance.

We sincerely appreciate the trust you have placed in us and thank you for being part of our KB Health community. It has been our privilege to provide your care.

Sincerely,
Andrew Earnshaw, ED

New Patients

Please note, we do not accept new patients directly.  All new patients come through the Health Connect Registry (HCR), a provincial waitlist for patients without a primary care provider.

Once you have registered with the Health Connect Registry (HCR), you will be contacted when a provider in your area becomes available. This may be with our clinic or it may be somewhere else. Please note that the KB Health provides temporary support for patients until they can be permanently attached to a physical clinic in their home community.

If you do not currently have a primary care provider and would like one, please register for the HCR online or by calling 8-1-1.

Booking an Appointment
  • Most KB Health appointments happen on the phone or by video. In cases when it’s important to see your healthcare provider in person, you can book an in-person appointment at a site in Nelson, Castlegar, or Trail.
  • Existing patients: please book your appointment through TELUS CHR Connect. Learn more on the Patient Dashboard.
  • New patients: All new patients must first register or be referred to the Health Connect Registry (HCR), a provincial waitlist for patients without a primary care provider (Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner). If you do not currently have a primary care provider and would like one, please register for the HCR online or by calling 8-1-1.
